On Thursday, January 18th, 2018, West Orange High School hosted a Freshman Parent Night for incoming freshman. The detachment located at West Orange High School, FL-802, participated in the event with hopes of increasing its size by recruiting and getting incoming freshman and possible cadets excited to join the unit. For the school, freshman parent night is a perfect opportunity to expose incoming freshman to all that West Orange has to offer. For FL-802, freshman parent night is a night of shaking the hands and introducing ourselves to the incoming cadets. Both the unarmed and armed drill teams participated in the event. This event gave the teams a chance to practice in front of people before upcoming competitions. These cadets are very dedicated to the teams, so having events like these helps show off our cadets more so than just having them compete at drill meets and competitions where only a select amount of people see them perform.
