Our annual Senior Tailgate was held on 15 April. This event was also hosted by our Kitty Hawk Honor Society! There was a barbecue and food, games and activities, and even water guns to give a final send-off for the seniors. On 1 April, we went on a field trip to the Sun N’ Fun Aerospace Expo held in Lakeland, Florida. It was a showcasing of many different aircraft. These aircraft are important to history, whether they were used in times of war, or to show the development of these machines over the decades. There were many aircraft soaring through the air, including fighters. It was a very exciting and educational trip for those who attended, and we hope to have more events similar to this in the future! Written by C/Kristin Wisdom
On 3 and 5 March our cadets volunteered at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. In the early morning, cadets bused over to Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lounge. In 15 minute intervals, morning to afternoon, cadets had the honor of guarding the trophies. Written by C/Jalissa Madera
On 11 February, we held our annual Air Force Ball! Hosted by our Kitty Hawk Honor Society, it was a fun-filled night at Disney's Shades of Green Resort, with a buffet, music, and dancing. We honored fallen veterans in the past through a ceremony performed by our unit's color guard and other select cadets. We also crowned a freshman, sophomore, and junior prince and princess, as well as a senior king and queen. Overall, it was a fun event and was remembered as a great night for those who attended! On 4 February our Honor Guard met at Osceola High School for the Kowboy Roundup Drill Meet. They competed in Regulation Inspection and DAFPAM 34-1203 Inspection, bringing home second place trophies. Our Color Guard also placed second in TC 3-21.5. Written by C/Kristen Wisdom
On 28 January our Raiders team took a trip to Forest High School for a competition. They competed in many things, with the male team flying through the 600 pound tire flip, the 7 ½ foot lumber wall, and the tire set. Cadet James Holton and Cadet Bella Rodgers representing West Orange High School for pullups and Cadet William Le and Cadet Bella Rodgers in the sit-ups test. On 30 November some of our cadets got to take a trip to I/ITSEC (interservice/industry training,simulation and education conference). While they were there they got to check out some of the up and coming technologies that were being developed. Written by C/Kristen Wisdom
On 29 October, the drill team competed in the Mainland Drill Meet for their first competition of the school year. They placed 1st in their regulation inspections. Aiden Bernhard won the best commander for regulation. Cadets Jonah Howe and Eli Lopez were in the top three for IDR. Written by C/Kristen Wisdom
On 15 October our cadets had a field trip to Kennedy Space Center. The cadets explored the many buildings and participated in a scavenger hunt containing many interesting places or facts. They saw many rockets or other aircrafts and got to learn lots of great information about the history of space exploration and current and future plans for space exploration. Written by C/ Karynn Stewart (02/27/22) On 26 February, the Drill team attended the Space Coast Drill Meet at Melbourne High School. This meet was the last meet of this competition season and the Team won 1st in unarmed Exhibition and Color Guard won 2nd in TC. These cadets have shown perseverance and dedication and the unit cannot wait to see what the Drill Team will accomplish next competition year.
